The only tentatively identified feather is one of the Picidae, (woodpeckers and their relatives) (Poinar, G.O., Jr. 1992. Life in Amber)

Feather 1

It could well be that this feather tells a story of an avian predation some 20 million years ago.

It was found at the same place as the lizard we show, the La Toca mine not far form Santiago de los Caballeros.

Feather 2

This feather also seems to be a down feather, probably also of one of the Picidae. Note how beautifully it seems to float on the resin.

Very interesting are the three flies the same specimen holds, which is very exeptional.
