Just to give you an idea, let's take a trip to a Dominican amber mine hidden away in a foggy little tropical valley.  |
But even this does not go all the way. So let's walk, the mules did not arrive.

Finally we get to the mine. Surprised? True, it does not look very sophisticated... Miners don't spend much money on safty and regulations are unheard of. They use candle lights to make sure there is enough oxygen. But ther beams do not look very safe to me, what do you think?

It's just good to have a 4x4. And not only during raining season...

Although the miners even risk their lifes, most of what is found are just small pieces not worth to work under these extremely primitve and dangerous conditions. How happy they are when a larger one is unearthed!
